About Plan Z Motorsports
Plan Z Motorsports was founded by Jim Mitchell of Kennesaw, Georgia in March 2024, after a shared-car project with a friend fell through, or went "sideways." When the owner was asked for a "Plan B," the response was that it was "Plan Z."
Where it started
The foundation of the team is a 2003 Nissan 350Z that served as the owner's personal track car since 2013. It was already fairly developed, but was further upgraded with additional gutting, a roll cage, a fire suppression system, and upgraded coolers to prepare it for endurance racing.
Our record
We won our very first 8-hour endurance race at Atlanta Motorsports Park in May 2024. The following day, we took 3rd place in another 8-hour race, securing two trophies on our first weekend. In 2025, we secured three total wins: one at Carolina Motorsports Park and two more at Atlanta Motorsports Park.
We compete primarily in two endurance racing series: the Lucky Dog Racing League and the ChampCar Endurance Series.
The team
Our crew and drivers change from race to race, but the goal stays the same: a well-prepared car, a solid pit crew, and a finish.
